BREWERS CONT' WINNING WAYS
19/07/2008
Playing at 'Wakeling Field' the Brewers A & A reserves both had minor wins over a challenging Bellarine. Both games were subjected to freezing winds in the vicinity of 6 degrees farenheit. To their credit both teams demanded a game of Baseball be played regardless of the conditions, but several players from both sides suffered from groin, hamstring and quadricep muscle injuries, a factor of sprinting in cold conditions. The Brewers started with "Professor Meddick" on the mound, finishing with "Creasy Irons". By all accounts Bellarine came to play and that they did pressuring the Brewers into a midway conference to regain the urgency of winning this game 3 - 2.
Brewers 'A reserves' held onto a thrilling win 4 - 3 keeping their finals spot well and truly alive. The battery consisting of 'Tom Harrington throwing to Leigh Ashmore' worked a treat with many opposition batters failing to pick the changeups and plate control these two commanded.
Brewers 'Tie' with Lara 5 all.
13/07/2008
Brewers 'A' grade travelled to Lara to compete in a need to win situation if they are to maintain fourth spot on the ladder. Both teams were hungry for the points with the brewers jumping Lara early in the game. Whilst both teams had double figure hits it came down to who left how many on base as a deciding factor in this important game. Crutial errors sealed Lara's fate with the Brewers hanging on to share the points thus retaining fourth spot on the League Ladder.
Brewers "Hunt" for finals continues
12/07/2008
Brewers number one 'C' grade pitcher Greg Ashmore had a day out with the bat which included a triple base hit. From his plate appearances he had 3 big safe hits with 4 RBI's, not to be out-done Neil Phillips also went 3 from 3 with 3 RBI's. The 'C' graders have clearly booked a place in this seasons finals.
BREWERS 'STUN' SAINTS
28/06/2008
Going into this game against League Leader Saints, the Brewers showing their re-newed desire took this game from Saints grasp right from the beginning not allowing any hint of kind sacrifices. 'Professor' Meddick took the mound in tenatious form allowing very little resistance to come from the Saints batters. 'Creasy' Irons and 'the Boss' Hipke complimented the Brewers excellent 3 pronged attack against the hapless Saints batters allowing them very little opportunity. Saints 'lefty' Dean Barker in past encounters has a noticable control over the Brewers batting performance but going by the past two encounters this stigma no longer has an effect over the batting sensibility of the Mighty Brewers as they came to terms and noticably changed this around. With the 'blend' of the Brewers pitching department coming from Meddick, Irons, Hipke and Jack Lindsay the sheer brutal non-stop attack gives an opponent very little ground for movement.
'A' reserves lost their encounter against Saints by 1 run, 7 - 6 in a game said to be played out to perfection. Undoubtably these two teams shall meet again in a higher qualifing position. No further details given.
The 'Professor' returns
21/06/2008
Joy and jubilation was heard kilometres away when gun thrower Rory 'the Professor' Meddick took the ball, opening the Brewers defensive attack against Deakin at Wakeling field on Saturday. Old men trembled, women screamed with raptious delight and juniors excited themselves in awe at the 'Professors' polished performance. Going 5inn 1h 5k2 1bb 0err, the 'Prof' was meticulous in the way he went about 'working the plate' giving Deakins batters little hope of any possible contact with the ball. Looking very fit and very relaxed the 'Prof' obviously enjoyed what he was doing as did the spectators and supporters.
